Preparation
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast; let it sit until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture and oil to the flour mixture; stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes, until smooth.
Rising
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool before slicing.
Notes
Store the bread wrapped in plastic wrap or aluminum foil at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze the bread, slicing it before freezing for easy access. Optionally, add herbs or spices during kneading for additional flavor.
