For the Burger Patties
  • 1 lb ground beef or plant-based alternative Choose a Halal-certified option for a Halal-friendly choice.
  • 1/2 cup black garlic, minced Fermented garlic with a unique flavor.
  • 4 oz truffle gouda cheese, shredded This cheese melts beautifully.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 pieces burger buns Soft and fresh buns recommended.
Optional Toppings
  • to taste arugula Adds a peppery kick.
  • to taste sliced tomatoes Fresh and juicy.
  • to taste aioli Use for an extra layer of flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef or plant-based alternative, minced black garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined—overmixing can lead to tough burgers.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and use your hands to form patties. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for another 3-5 minutes, topping each burger with shredded truffle gouda during the last minute to allow it to melt.
  2. While the burgers are cooking, cut your burger buns in half and toast them on the grill for about a minute or until golden.
Assembly
  1. Place each patty on a toasted bun. Top with arugula, sliced tomatoes, and a drizzle of aioli if desired.
  2. Close the bun and serve your Black Garlic Truffle Gouda Gourmet Burger with your favorite side dishes—fries or a crisp salad would be perfect!

Notes

Store any uneaten burgers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. For freezing, wrap each patty tightly in plastic wrap and store in a freezer-safe bag for up to two months. To reheat, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the burgers on a baking sheet for 10-15 minutes, or until warmed through.
