  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) Use for added texture and flavor.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the butterscotch chips, brown sugar, and butter over medium heat. Stir constantly until everything is melted and well combined.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat, then add the graham cracker crumbs, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until you have a thick batter.
  4. Grease or line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared dish and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  6. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top and gently press them into the batter.
  7. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the edges begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. The center should be set but still soft.
  8. Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store remaining bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or refrigerate for longer freshness. Freeze for up to three months, reheating in the microwave for 10-15 seconds when desired.
