For the Sandwich
  • 4 slices whole grain bread Use fresh slices for best results.
  • 4 oz sliced cheddar cheese Gouda or pepper jack can be used as substitutes.
  • 4 oz smoked turkey breast (Halal-certified) Ensure the turkey is Halal-certified.
  • 2 tbsp butter For spreading on bread.
  • 1 cup lettuce leaves Use any preferred variety.
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • mustard or mayonnaise, to taste Adjust according to preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Gather all the ingredients on your kitchen counter. Lay out your bread slices, cheese, and turkey.
Butter the Bread
  1. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
Layering
  1. On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, layer two slices of cheddar cheese, followed by the smoked turkey, lettuce, and tomato slices.
  2. Add more cheese on top and close the sandwich with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
Grilling
  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and place the sandwiches in the skillet.
  2. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown and crispy.
Flip
  1. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
Serve
  1. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm with your choice of mustard or mayonnaise.

Notes

For substitutions, try other cheeses like gouda or pepper jack for a spicy kick. Keep an eye on the bread while grilling, as it can burn quickly. For storing, use an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze wrapped sandwiches for up to 2 months.
