Ingredients

For the crust
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs Ensure they are finely crushed.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Provides richness to the crust.
For the layers
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or milk chocolate according to preference.
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade will work.
  • 1 cup chopped pecans Chop coarsely for texture.
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk Covers the layers and adds creaminess.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and melted unsalted butter. Stir until all crumbs are well-coated. Press this mixture evenly onto the bottom of the greased baking dish. Bake for about 10 minutes until golden.
Layering
  1. Remove the crust from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over it.
  2. Drizzle caramel sauce generously on top, and finally, sprinkle the chopped pecans all over.
  3. Pour the can of sweetened condensed milk over everything, covering the entire surface.
Baking
  1. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until everything is bubbling and golden brown.
  2. Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing into squares. This waiting period ensures you get clean cuts and helps the layers set.

Notes

These bars can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week in an airtight container. They freeze beautifully, too! For the best quality, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap before placing them in an airtight container. Reheat by letting them sit at room temperature or microwave for 10-15 seconds for gooey goodness.
