Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom soup (ensure it’s Halal-certified)
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (check for Halal options)
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 package mini phyllo pastry cups or wonton wrappers

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to create a wonderful crust on the bites.
  2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the green beans and blanch them for about 3-4 minutes until vibrant green and slightly tender. Drain and plunge them into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the blanched green beans, cream of mushroom soup, crispy fried onions, shredded cheddar cheese, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly coated.
  4. Place your mini phyllo cups or wonton wrappers on a baking sheet. Spoon the green bean mixture into each cup, filling them generously.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Let them cool for a few minutes and serve warm at your next gathering.

Notes

You can substitute cheddar cheese for Monterey Jack or vegan cheese. This recipe is easily scalable based on the number of guests. Avoid over-blanching the beans to retain their crunch.
