Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups Blackberries, fresh or frozen If using frozen, allow them to defrost for a few minutes.
  • 1 cup Lemon juice, freshly squeezed Avoid bottled lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup Sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 4 cups Water, cold Use 1 cup for blending blackberries, then add the remaining 3 cups.
  • as needed none Ice For serving.
  • as needed none Mint leaves, fresh For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. If using fresh blackberries, rinse them thoroughly under cool water.
  2. In a blender, add the blackberries and 1 cup of water. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth.
  3. For a smoother lemonade, strain the blackberry puree through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher to remove the seeds. This step is optional.
  4. To the pitcher with the blackberry juice, add the remaining 3 cups of cold water, the freshly squeezed lemon juice, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  5. Give your lemonade a taste test. If it needs more sweetness or acidity, adjust with more sugar or lemon juice.
  6. Add plenty of ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves. Serve in chilled glasses and enjoy!

Notes

Consider substituting sugar with honey or a sugar alternative if desired. Ensure the sugar is fully dissolved to avoid grittiness. This lemonade is best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Freeze in ice cube trays for future use.
