Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
Wet Ingredients
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is softened for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup milk Use room temperature milk for better incorporation.
  • 3 pieces eggs Use room temperature eggs.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon Swirl Mixture
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon For added flavor in the swirl.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and granulated sugar. Stir well.
  3. In another large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, mixing until just incorporated.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
Assembly
  1. Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan, sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture on top.
  2. Pour the remaining batter on top and then sprinkle the rest of the brown sugar mixture.
  3. Use a butter knife to swirl the batter gently in a figure-eight motion.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  2. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  3. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze wrapped slices for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
